Biafo Hisper Snow lake Trek is a high-altitude Glacier basin over 16km wide located at the head of the Biafo and Hispar glaciers. The Ancient highway of Ice connects the two Great mountain kingdoms Hunza in the west with Baltistan in the east. Combine the Biafo and Hispar. Biafo Glacier is 116 km which makes it the second-longest glacier in the world outside the Polar Region. This snow-covered glacial expanse at the head of Biafo is best explored on skis best place to do skiing in Pakistan. During the Biafo Hisper trek two third of the trekking on this route is over glaciers approaching Snow Lake itself there are a couple of crevassed areas where it may be necessary to rope up. The high point of the trek is the camp at the Hispar La at a height of 5150 meters. This offers quite outrageous panoramic views of the whole area including a magnificent sunset across the valley of Hunza. Descending the Hispar La is more challenging than the ascent of the Biafo and involves crossing a number of tributary glaciers with at times difficult underfoot conditions. The Biafo Hisper Snow Lake trek starts by following the K2 Base Camp trail and then turns west onto the Biafo Glacier. The trail for the next few days follows loose rocky moraine ridges on the glacier although the campsites at Namla, Mango, and Baintha are located in grassy areas behind lateral moraines. From Baintha camp we go on to the glacier and follow the wide ice highway making the trekking relatively easy compared to loose rock earlier on the trek. Trekking up to the glacier is demanding sometimes hiking on rocky moraine sometimes through grassy valleys between the lateral moraines and the valley sides and at the higher altitudes on pristine white ice and then snow where we rope up for security in the crevassed areas. The highlight of the trek is camping on the Hispar La itself with plenty of time to absorb the scenery into minds and cameras. At the end of the trek descend into the spectacular Hunza Valley domi
